By downloading, installing, or using the GalaTayo mobile application ("the App"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree to these Terms, do not use the App.
GalaTayo is a collaborative trip planning app that allows users to create trips, suggest and vote on activities, track and split expenses, upload photos, and share travel memories within private groups. The App is designed for personal, non-commercial use.
You must be at least 13 years old to use GalaTayo. By using the App, you represent that you meet this age requirement. Users under 18 should have parental or guardian consent.
You sign in using a third-party provider (Google or Apple). You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account credentials. You agree to provide accurate information and to keep your profile information current. You may not create accounts for the purpose of impersonating another person.
You agree not to:
Ownership. You retain ownership of the content you upload to GalaTayo (photos, journal entries, trip details, expense records). By uploading content, you grant us a limited license to store, process, and display it to authorized trip members as necessary to operate the App.
Shared content. Content you contribute to a trip (activity suggestions, votes, expenses, photos) becomes part of the shared trip record. Other trip members may continue to see this content even if you leave the trip. If you delete your account, shared contributions are anonymized but not removed from the trip record.
Removal. Trip hosts (admins) may remove content and members from their trips. We reserve the right to remove content that violates these Terms.
Trip hosts. The user who creates a trip is the host and has administrative privileges, including managing members, setting voting rules, and configuring trip settings. Hosts are responsible for managing their trip appropriately.
Invite codes. Trips are joined via invite codes. You are responsible for sharing invite codes only with people you intend to include in your trip.
Expense accuracy. GalaTayo provides tools to track and split expenses. The App calculates balances based on user-entered data. We are not responsible for the accuracy of expense entries or for the settlement of debts between users. GalaTayo is not a financial institution and does not process payments.
Free tier. GalaTayo is free to use with a limit of 2 active trips and 250 MB storage per trip.
Paid tiers. Barkada Host, Host+, and Legend subscriptions are available through in-app purchases via Google Play or the Apple App Store. Subscriptions are billed according to the pricing displayed at the time of purchase.
Billing. Subscriptions automatically renew unless canceled at least 24 hours before the end of the current billing period. You can manage and cancel subscriptions through your device's app store settings.
Refunds. Refund requests are handled by Google Play or the Apple App Store according to their respective refund policies. We do not process refunds directly.
Downgrade. If you cancel a paid subscription, you retain paid-tier benefits until the end of the billing period. After that, your account reverts to the free tier. If your stored content exceeds free-tier limits, a grace period applies as described in the App. Content exceeding limits may be deleted after the grace period.
Each account tier includes storage limits for trip vault photos and media. Storage quotas are enforced per-trip and across all trips. When you approach your limit, you will receive notifications (if enabled). Exceeding your quota will prevent further uploads until you free space or upgrade your tier.
Your use of the App is also governed by our Privacy Policy, which describes how we collect, use, and protect your information. By using the App, you consent to the practices described in the Privacy Policy.
The GalaTayo name, logo, app design, and source code are the property of GalaTayo and are protected by applicable intellectual property laws. You may not copy, modify, distribute, or create derivative works based on the App without our written permission.
As-is basis. The App is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, either express or implied. We do not guarantee that the App will be uninterrupted, error-free, or free of harmful components.
Travel decisions. GalaTayo is a planning tool. We are not a travel agency and do not provide travel advice. You are solely responsible for your travel decisions, safety, and arrangements.
Third-party links. The App may contain links to third-party websites or services (affiliate partners, booking platforms). We are not responsible for the content, policies, or practices of third-party services.
To the maximum extent permitted by law, GalaTayo and its developers shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of the App, including but not limited to loss of data, loss of profits, or damages arising from disputes between trip members over expenses or other matters.
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless GalaTayo and its developers from any claims, damages, losses, or expenses (including legal fees) arising from your use of the App, your violation of these Terms, or your violation of any rights of another user.
We may suspend or terminate your access to the App at any time if you violate these Terms. You may delete your account at any time from Settings > Data & Privacy > Delete My Account. Upon termination, your right to use the App ceases, and we may delete your data as described in our Privacy Policy.
We may update these Terms from time to time. If we make material changes, we will notify you through the App or by updating the effective date above. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the Republic of the Philippines. Any disputes arising from these Terms or your use of the App shall be resolved in the courts of the Philippines.
